Is there a safe way to clean what I think is a latchhook rug, it has little threads of yarn sticking out of the border and flatter design in the middle. The middle part is very dirty it's like an off-white or tan coloring with palm trees on it...I want to wash it but I don't want to wreck it. Any suggestions?

Hand wash it.

You can wash it in your washing machine, use the genital cycle and mild detergent. If it's super dirty allow it to soak in the washing machine over night in cold water, once finished washing allow to dry on a flat surface.
Hope this helps.
