Van is paid for, not rusted, has no leaks, still looks like new. But could need a $500.00 or more car repair. Can't afford new, but I do have 5.500 to put on another one. But I can't get a loan because I have bad credit. What should I do?

Although the Voyager doesn't have the best reliability record out there, if you can put it in tip-top shape for $500.00, that's where I'd be spending my money. Spending $5,500 on a replacement vehicle has it's own risks, you could be buying someone else's problems. But you know the condition of your current vehicle and if you only need $500 to keep it running that would be the prudent way to go.

If all it takes is $500 to ge tthe van in good shape ,then go with that direction. Why take a loan for a new car with monthly payments that will be more than you can afford due to the poor credit. The dealer will give you the loan but at a much higher interest rate. Fix the van, if you really have a use for a minivan, and pocket the balance of your $5000. Continue to save in the long run. Eventually you will get caught up with your bills and improve the credit history. Better safe than sorry.
good luck..........

I would make the repair and keep driving it. You should be able to get a lot more use out of your van. Save your cash.

i had a '87 ply voyager. good engine funto drive BUT it was a money pit all of a sudden.. fuel injectors, brake lines, fuel pump. I sold it for 50.00 and bought a Honda Civic Honda is best you will save lots of money on repairs, resale value, gas milage. GO HONDA! get a used Civic off of a dealer lot with warrenty still on it. i got a 2001 4 door 255.00/month 10,500 not including tax and interest
