My father is the oldest of 3 and did not get on with his family - the reason so pathetic i feel ashamed for him. i never knew my gran or grandad and they never knew me.

I have been researching our family tree and found out that my granfather died in 2001 and my granmother in 2002. I actually wrote to my uncle in 2002 after finding his address from the electorol roll (not knowing my gran had died) and he did not reply.

Knowing that the other part of my family does not wish to talk to me, how can i find out if my father has inherited any money/property?

thanks

As you have details of names and dates, the next step is to write to the Probate Registry to discover whether any will was left or, if there was no will, letters of representation taken out. This link should help. http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/cms/1226.htm
If a will was left, then its contents should reveal whether or not your father was entitled to anything under its terms.
If letters of probate were taken out and he was left out of the distribution of the estate, then you will need to consult a solicitor.
