When the Romans named their Gods, Venus was the Goddess of Love, and Mars was the Warrior.
That's why the book gets is title.
Women are the caring ones, men are the aggressive ones.
Regarding the planets, they were named after Roman Gods.
Mercury was The Winged Messenger, Jupiter was The Bringer Of Jollity, Saturn the Bringer of Old Age, Uranus the Magician, and Neptune The Mystic.
Pluto was a combination of the surnames of the astronomers who discovered it in 1929.
I hope that clarifies things for you.

‘Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus’ by John Gray –
The book was published in 1992 and the author had gained a huge fan following immediately after it came out which gave a theory that men and women came from different planets – men from Mars, women from Venus, and were meant to meet and communicate here on planet Earth. This classic book is on relationships between men and women and a ‘must read’ for anyone who is serious about improving communication and understanding in a relationship. Such a situation demanded an effort by both to understand the differences between them, says the author. When Martians (or men) actually learn to decipher what their spouses or girlfriends are trying to tell them in Venusian (or feminine terms), life can get a lot better and relationships with satisfaction of both partners, instead of muddling along in painful fits and starts. A crucial premise of this book is that we should love our partners in the way they want to be loved, rather than the way in which we want to be loved!

By the mere look of the first letter of the names, V resembles the female sexual anatomy, and the M would represent the males. It may also be that Venus, being the morning star, represents the the first sin by humans which Eve caused. Another way of looking at it is men and women aren't an ocean part, but a planet. Being so different.

"Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus" is a famous relationship advice book by John Gray.
It's so famous that its title has now become a saying. The concept is that men and women can get along better together if they understand and accept that womens' and mens' psychology and needs are different. It shows the two genders how to communicate with one another.
So if you hear someone saying that saying, it means they're saying that women and men are very different.

If you haven't read the book, I have an original explanation.
Men and Mars both begin with M. Women and Venus begin with different though adjacent letters V and W.
Even if men try to make up, their inner truth can be rather easily ascertained, especially by the women.
Women can hide themselves quite effectively in their make up... they can efficiently mislead people, especially the men, about their innermost thoughts and intentions.
Yes... the phrase make up is used here with intended pun.

Men are more equated with a masculine figure like "Mars" the name for the ancient Roman God of War.
Women are equated with something definitely feminine like the statue of "Venus Di Milo".

It's the title of a book that was written all about how men and women essentially come from different planets. It talks about how men and women talk differently, mean different things by what they say and do. It also tried to explain how we hear differently. One sex can say one thing but the other sex can hear it as something completely different.

No matter how we understand each other men and women always collide, there are really some points that they dont seem to get along with. We have different perspectives in life.
