how did you cope with the loneliness? When did you realized the joy of freedom and the weight of being responsible?

I guess I've always liked my alone time so it never really bothered me when I got out on my own at 17. I enjoyed the freedom right away but the weight of responsibility came when the money was tight and it was time to pay bills or there wasn't any food in the fridge. It's part of growing up and getting into your own life and making your own way in this world. I think I have learned that this statement is very true......"what doesn't kill you. makes you stronger". It was interesting to me though, how quickly I realized all the things my parents had been doing for me through all those years. It is definitely a learning experience that you will grow from as a person. Good luck with your own place. Enjoy yourself and your own space.

MMM Thats two different questions. I moved out from my parents house for the first time at 21. It wasn't lonely because I lived with friends. It was very comfortable.
The first time I lived alone though was when I was 25 (I think) It was very lonely but the freedom is so nice. Walking around the house naked, making as much mess as you want and not worrying about it bothering anyone, not having to share the TV, So good.
By that point I already new responsibility. Once you start paying bills and wondering how you're going to last til your next pay check its a lesson learned.

I was never lonely when living on my own 'cause my friends were with me and we had heaps of fun but money was short and no mum or dad to bail me out hahaha.

I know how you feel.
that's why I always had room mates.
for all the trouble they were, it was worth it to have a companion.
