If you are using DSL, then it could be that the DSL is loosing sync. Check if the lights on the DSL box goes into re-sync mode, i.e. have a regular blink and then goes back to steady on. To fix this, you could try moving the Ethernet cables away from the RJ11 phone cable as well as the power cable. Also try moving the modem away from other devices to reduce the interference.

The modem may be having issues trying to renew the IP address via DHCP. DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, which bacilly means your IP address gets updated and changed during specific times designated by your internet provider.

To fix this issue, Click on Start, Run.
Type cmd and click OK.
Type ipconfig and press the enter key. Windows will now display your information about your IP configuration.

Now, to release and renew your IP address, type in the following command:
ipconfig /release.
Make sure to type a space after ipconfig and a forward slash before release.

Once you have released your IP address you need to renew it by using the command: ipconfig /renew.
After renewing your IP address, you should be able to access the internet.

if you are trying to open yahoomail new beta version, then it is a bit slow.

instead of trying ipconfig /renew i will suggest you try ipconfig /flushdns.
Because u see u don't seem to be having a problem with DHCP as you are able to connect to internet.

ipconfig /flushdns will purge all dns cache
then try. think it should solve ur problem

shakenama is right, but an easier way to do what he said and more is to right click the two computers icon next to your clock and select repair.

I would also turn off or unplug the modem, wait 10 seconds and plug it back in. the experts call this power-cycling.

Sounds like trouble with your modem. Call your provider and tell them of your problem. They will work on it or send you a new modem.
