Mass media *is* our social perception. Without it why would kids be dressing up and acting like people in a country thousands of miles away like they do here? It's gone beyond the point that the TV box is a part of our brain - now the brain is a part of a TV box.

Yes. There is a song written about it. Called 'Barbie Girl' by Aqua. Pretty much, we are the media's toys, and they tell us what to do so we follow through with them. Maybe you should look into sociology and psychology to understand this a little more.
