i need help wth apache and ip adresses and stuff urgently?

hi, i have an ibm server wich i installed linux on (ubuntu) and also apache (webserver) and i networked it with the computer i am on now ( a windows xp machne) using cat5 crossover cable the xp pc has the internet on it using a modem i can get the internet on the server using this method but when i want to use apache i put in the servers ip adress (192.168.0.24) (the internal adress) and i get my website but when i put in my external ip(220.240.121.155) i get nothing and when i aske my freinds to try on their pc they get nothi also (apache is on port 80) i dont no y and i need help to fix it i no how to use the windows versin of apache but m not really good with linux i only no the basics any help would be great!!!!

Well with a "dialup modem" you wont get much speed out of this system. But with internet connection sharing I dont think you have anyway to forward port 80 to the Linux server.

You can indeed install apache on windows or you can "reverse" your setup and allow the linux machine to "share" the connection with your XP box so that inbound traffic "hits" it first.

In all honesty without a broadband connection a Web server will not work very well. If you get broadband you can then use a router connected to the broadband modem. The router will send inbound traffic to the correct machine (thus routing traffic and letting your server work on the web)

i'm adverse to any unlawful activities on the web. yet when you're academically interested in understanding them, there is not any damage. know the procedures of thieves in case you want to capture them.There are lot of ip address changers available for loose on the information superhighway. that's a cinch to regulate your IP addr. what's more beneficial major is replacing the MAC address of the comp you're engaged on. This address is declared to be a clinching information in courtroom. yet lamentably ! even MAC address changers are available for loose on the web those days. I actually have tried them for interest and they artwork as they promise ! The IP address which facebook has already accrued won't be able to get replaced now .yet you may practice in courtroom that IP address changer application is provided on information superhighway. and some one some the position have faked ypur ip addr. earnings of doubt.....
