Musts:
The Liberty Bell/Independence Hall is a definate must.
Eat a cheesesteak - Jim's on South Street is my personal favorite
Franklin Institute - you will not believe what you learn
Other things you might want to check out:
Italian Market - Yum!
Penns Landing has some nice events depending on when you'll be there - www.pennslandingcorp.com
The Art Museum is phenomenal but its huge - it takes a good 3-4 hours to get through it so if you are not a big art fan, I'd skip going in and just visit the Rocky statue and see if you can run all the way up to the top of the steps.
Morimoto's restaurant is fantastic - if you like sushi this is the place to go.
South Street has some great shops, bars and resturants. If you have time to get out to Manayunk, that's another great neighborhood to stroll around.
The zoo is nice but in the end its just a zoo. There's nothing quintessentially "Philadelphian" about it although it is the country's first zoo.
Have fun!!!!

Do one day for the historical stuff liberty bell, City Hall (I believe you can still go up in the tower on weekdays, but who knows with the anti-terrorism precautions), Elfreths Alley, etc. Then another day just checking out the neighborhoods. Walk through the italian market and experience all the taste/smell of all the goods there. Head over to South Street and enjoy people watching and all the interesting restaraunts and stores. Head out to Main Street on Manayunk and feel like you're stepping back in time with all the old row homes converted to restaraunts/bars/shops. Spend the last day checking out the museums. The Philly Art Museum is a must, and I personally love just sitting on the steps looking at the city, you should spend at least 3-4 hours there checking out all the wonderful artwork there. Then head to the Franklin Institute, the science museum. If you have a strong stomach and want to check out some medical oddities you can also visit the Mutter Museum or if maybe the Eastern State Penitentary(sp?)

A lot of people have given some great answers and all are must see and dos,However the one place that is often overlooked(because the eighorhood isn't that great is GERMANTOWN,Pa.(Im not from Germantown south Philly here). There is so much history up there its an amazing 2 mile walking tour on Germantown ave alone.Certain examples of Historical places are The FIRST white house in the U.S,The FIRST papermill,The famous battle between George Wasington and General Howe as Washington was being pushed back from Philadelphia to Valley Forge,The First Kid Napping,There are some Very historical Grave Yards there (One even has a very intreting tombstone which reads Methelusia on it and lived 969 yrs of age(yes 969 yrs of age).I didn't believe it myself, however if you look the name up it says that he was either NOAHS grandfather or grandson(I cant remember which) but it says that before one of the SINS that people actually lived to be around 1000 yrs old,and theres so so much more,Go to the Morris arboretum or visit Chestnut Hill..

Day One
1. thing you have to do is get a Phillycheesesteak either from Geno's or Pat's. They are both major attractions for any one visiting Philly. 2.After you have eaten the Cheesesteak, to burn off all the calories and Fat, run up the stairs( Rocky Style) of the Museum and take in some art and histroy. 3.Lastly get yourself a Pretzel and take a historic walking tour and visit the Liberty Bell...
Day Two
Just out side of Philly is a mega/huge mall in a Town called King of Prussia go shopping there, it's like the size of 3 malls and they have everystore there under the sun. After a day of shopping, eat dinner or lunch at the Cheesecake factory, have yourself a nice Martini with your mom.
Day Three
Just walk around the city and enjoy the sites, sounds and history of our country. I think there is even a tour that goes on land and water, (but don't quote me)

Then on a radio station he tried to describe what he meant and that he wasn't retaining some thing nasty about her... then he called her a "prevalent White individual" who receives afraid at the same time as someone they do no longer know is walking down the line ... that's in undemanding words portion of the adventure of who they're. Then Axelrod later in the day had to describe what Obama meant by ability of prevalent White individual. basically words? prevalent White individual... basically words? there are any such vast volume of motives now to not vote for Obama... basically %. one. expensive old John Kerry .... suggested ... he may be make a magnificent president because he's BLACK and it can provide united states a chance as an instance how a procedures we've come as a rustic. Wow.. tremendous reason to help someone for President. Umm.... why isn't Obama calling him a racist and rejecting his help? Oh it truly is Wright, I recommend correct, he likes it both procedures.

The Philadelphia Zoo, The Italian Market, and South Street. The zoo is self explanatory. The Italian Market is a bunch of vendors that sell pretty much any kind of Italian food plus other stuff in a kind of flea market type setting. South St. has a bunch of shops, restaraunts, and bars. Also, while on South St. you need to taste test both Geno,s and Pat's steaks.

Philadelphia Zoo, Philadelphia Museum of Art , The Franklin Institute, Liberty Park. Eat at Morimoto's restaurant-he is the Iron chef from television. You have to make a reservation in advance. We went there for my son's 21st birthday-flew up from FL and it was worth it. http://www.morimotorestaurant.com/
