The blood travels from thebody into the right atrium. It is then pumped into the right ventricle. The pulmonary artery takes the blood from the right ventricle to the lungs where gaseous exchange occurs (the blood becomes oxygenated and carbon dioxide is removed). Once oxygenated the blood moves back to the heart through the pulmonary vein into the left atrium. This is them moved into the left ventricle and is pumped from there throughout the body.
