Have you noticed that Looker A who actually saw and knows the person they're looking at in real life tends to look at it more favorably if the person is good, usually less favorably if the person is bad, regardless of how the subject "rates" on the hotness scale? And then Looker B who doesn't know the person at all might look at the person completely differently, usually more-ly based on aesthics?

I took a picture of a guy I knew, who is super friendly and awesome to be around, and of course I thought he looked so adorable and cute in all of his pictures, but then for a minute, I pretended I didn't know him, and looked at him from a stranger's perspective, just rating it on the "hotness" scale, personality excluded, and I saw it a lot more differently and noticed flaws that I never noticed before!

Have you guys ever tried this and came to the any similar conclusions?

It seems to me that personality actually hugely plays a role in how people perceive you, and I always acknowledged

Yes, we try to judge strangers purely by their looks because we don't know who they are or what they are like. We draw conclusions about their behavior based on certain qualities which we might have associated with the people we have known. That acts our reference point. But when we know a person a little well, or well enough, the better part of their personality comes through. We consciously obliterate what might otherwise be 'flawed' in them. We don't really like unfavorable things do we? So here we are, ignoring certain traits, or shortcomings, because we like things to be pleasant all the time.

I agree with you completely!

One time I went to a party and there was a totally gorgeous guy there. My Friend and I were dying over him. I sat down at a table started talking to people. By the end of the night, the 'hot' guy was unattractive to me because he had a boring, conceited, crap of a personality, and another guy that would never turn heads, well I ended up being very attracted to him because I loved his personality and we got along so well.

Another example would be this. Sometime if you ever have a friend over from out of town, have her look at a high school annual of yours and point out guys she thinks are hot. You'll freak probably because like you said, she'll be judging them only on looks, rather than on who they really are.

I think what you are trying to say is never take things at face value..

The same applies in getting to know a person, like when I went out for a drink and a curry with a few of my new colleagues, the one person that I thought was lovely and tallented became a pig when he'd had a few beers...

Its not all about what you see on the outside and beauty really is 'skin deep'

Sure, when you look at picture of someone you know, you're looking at everything about them - but look at a stranger and zilch
