The first probem I see is the Betta. The long fins of the Betta are probably going to be too much for the tiger barbs to resist and they will nip his fins and damage them. The neons will probably be a little stressed by the activity level of the tiger barbs, also. If the mollies and platies have long fins they will be in the same boat as the Betta. The Gourami's "feelers" might be a target, too.
Barbs are rowdy and boisterous but if you keep them in a school of 6 or more they will tend to stay in a school and annoy each other and leave the other fish alone for the most part. But even so, you'd have to worry about the fish I mentioned above. By the way, how big is your tank?

Tiger barbs are well known as fin nippers. The male betta will be their 1st target. The molly, and platy may be next. The neon might just be lunch. The clown loach should be okay, as well as the pleco. The kuhli would be okay if they can hide, and burrow if needed. The gourami would depend on the type. Dwarf, and pearl gouramis may be too peaceful to stand up to the barbs, but most other types hold their own.

Maybe they will do ok, but the betta will get ripped to shreds quickly. The gouramis really depend on the type, dwarfs will be toast. As long as the livebearers do not have long fins they may be ok. Not sure how the kuhlis will fare. Tiger barbs will do much better if kept in a school of at least 4 but 6 or more is better (they will chase each other that way.) Oh, and if you are attempting this in a small tank forget it and stick with what you have or maybe get one or two more slower swimming fishes. Good luck!

Of the list you have, I woud only put large gouramis and clown loaches (any Botia) except kuhli loaches with Tiger Barbs. There are many types of barbs that will live together sucessfully and lots of cichlids and 'sharks' can be mixed with them.

The only thing that I see on your example list that WILL NOT be eaten by the Barbs is the Pleco. Barbs are an aggressive fish (forget what the pet store told you) and will pick at the fins of most other fish.. there are many varieties of Barbs that you can put in with them...as well as other fish of a similar aggressiveness. Check with a knowledgeable pet store associate for fish compatibility.

Nope. Those tiger barbs will kill your betta. They might also kill your other fish. They are more aggressive than you think. If you took the betta and kuhli loaches out, it might be okay if yo kept them in schools.

Personally I would not, however you could try mixing with a species that is active and doesn't have flowing fins and tail. Tiger Barbs are a schooling fish which ideally need six or more to be kept together, and can be aggressive towards other fish. Hope this helps.

Barbs and Beta fish are both very aggressive this may be a problem for them to get along , it could also cause problems for the other fish. It could possibly work though, it can't hurt if you try for a day or two and see what happens. good luck

Yes, as long as there are more than six of them. They will not nip.
