Occassionally when typing an email I may hit a key which causes keyboard to lock up. Only solution I found was to turn off cpu. Can't even type in 'Word' or sign in to another email account. Any suggestions?

Try unplugging the keyboard from the cpu, and plugging it back it, making sure its in all the way. If that doesn't work might want to consider purchasing a new keyboard.

You could also look if there is anything between any of the keys, like fine particles dropped between the keys, but this would happen, whatever you are typing, not just emails.
