Ones I haven't seen posted by someone else before that I think are really great.
Elfen Lied, fairly violent, but really good.
Area 88, which way back in the day was turned into the video game UN Squadron.
Gunslinger Girl, robot girls with guns working for a government agency, pretty standard fare, but very, very well written and animated.
Broken Saints, which isn't anime per se, but rather an animated comic book.
Then there is my personal guilty pleasure, Please, Teacher!, a pretty tawdry little story that actually is quite a bit of fun.

These are mainly rormance comedy , romance, and adventure romance if thats what you like you'll love these
1. My favorite anime is Mermaid melody.
Pretty much about a mermaid princess who gave her pearl to a boy in a boat reck who almost died. a couple of years later she goes and finds her pearl. She meets the boy and already has a huge crush on him. She gets her pearl but yet she stays as a human on land. She meets 2 other mermaid princesses who become her best friend. While living on land she faces to fight water demons and trying to save the other mermaids who are being captured by gaito.
( im only to episode 34 cause nobody will sub it. still somthing to watch my favorite of all time)
2. Card captor sakura.
About a girl who opens a book of clow and all the clow cards are set free. She is chosen to return the cards to kero. The gardian of the crads. Little does she know that she is soon to face more problems then just return the cards. She is soon to become there new master. The cards aren't ordinary cards. There cards that cause alot of troblesom in the world. This is really great. very cute you should watch it
3. Tsubasa Chronicle
With the same people from cardcaptor sakura. Its like a anime with characters from other anime seires. Its about how Princess Sakura looses all her memory feathers. Her best childhood friend shaoran sets off to diffrent worlds finding her feathers. Sakura falls in love whith shaoran again while on the journy. Its really great you should watch it.
4. Karin.
A great show about a family of vamires who live in japan. They have a doughter whos not a normal vampire and can walk in the sun, and do other humanly things and instead of sucking the blood of others she makes blood and when she doesn't bit sombody to transfure it. It comes out of her knows and go everywhear. She meets a boy who is able to help her keep her secrate as a vampire and help her clean up the bloody messes she makes. They soon fall inlove and face alot of troblesome things. this is very cute anime.
5.Princess tutu.
One of the strangest , weirdest unordinary animes i have ever watched. Yet i love it. Its about a duck who wants to retrive the princes heart so badly that she is given a chance to become a girl. And then become who they call princess tutu. she finds peices of the heart and returnes them to the prince. Yet there are people getting in her way for they know the story of the prince and dont want him to have is heart back. to beable to control him. Its really great i didn't go into detail cause i want you to figure it out for yourself.
I know alot more but thats all i will tell you. please watch and enjoy. those are probably my top favorite but i duno about the 5 one i have to many 5th favorites
Please dont go after the gay cartoonnetwork anime either. Trust me the ones i listed where much better of a choice. There true hearted anime you cant find these very esaily.
