We realize that other people can help us get things we want. So appeasing others can be beneficial on many measures. Such as finding a significant other, getting a job, making connections or friends, making smooth transitions at the business place, getting deals.

We all rely on culture to define the expected actions and appearance of people. Certainly you wouldn't wear battle armor to the super market, or Nazi symbols to a synagogue. For as long as there is an expected appearance people will notice a smoother atmosphere by abiding to the current cultural icons, idols, and imagery of the time.

Individualism is sometimes frowned upon in most cultures but, some embrace being different. People live in a world were the cover defines the book. The more diverse a community is the more they will embrace difference and openness to interpretation and not have a basis off of shallow imagery. Less knowledge is less reasoning and in the same aspect can be applied to small communities.

Because what goes around comes around.

You should care what others think of you because you may need the good grace, help or support of others someday.

I almost didn't answer your question because you don't think enough of yourself or others to use the Check Spelling tool provided on this site. I'm sure others just passed you by without answering what is a good question because of what they thought of your spelling.

It's fine to be your own person . Just remember you have to share this planet with about 6 billion others.

Sure, I have a my own point of view of how things should be but whenever I am faced with a choice between being right or being kind, I do my best to choose to be kind as I find it serves me best in the long run.

Example: Instead of needing to be right and causing a fuss that my neighbor's two dogs relieve themselves on the far edge of my five acre property, I choose to be kind to him, his family and dogs. This man and I were strangers but and it could have been an uncomfortable even ugly introduction to one another. Since then, I have had a neighbor who thinks well of me and has insisted on snow-plowing my driveway free of charge for the last three winters. That is something I really appreciated this morning with twelve new inches of the stuff falling overnight.

It comes back around indeed. - Best Wishes.

As humans we all want to "look good" to avoid "looking bad."

What's looking bad? ANYTHING that we MAKE it MEAN! Even scarier is we tell ourselves that what we've made, think or feel looking bad means is the truth! Last we drown in thought trying to predict the outcome of our actions, as if we have the ability to control what others will think, do, say, what it may look like, will it be right? will it be wrong? etc.

A person who chooses to give up trying to look good to avoid looking bad is free of being constrained by what we can't possibly predict.
