rolling your eyes at a parent, teacher, spouse, etc.?
What is it about that act that makes it so irritating to the other person?

I've done it to others, but man when my kids do it to me I pipe off with one of those hands on hips, head bobbing Mom-moves and say "Roll your eyes at me, why I'll roll that little head of yours right off your shoulders".
I've never had to go farther than the threat, I didn't raise no stupid kids!

No, I would not have dared to...out of fear of being hit with a cast iron pan! Irritating is too kind a word. There was no democracy in our household, respect (and obediance)was demanded.
As for the spouse...got rid of him. He was a saint one day and Satan the next. I'm amazed I survived but I did and here to tell about it...and I never even did or would do those things. I've already been to Hell living with psychotic people , so life is wonderful now.

It's considered disrespectful. Or like you just don't give a flying fig about what the person is telling you, and feel they are just nagging. Never been yelled at about it, but have been told not to roll my eyes.

I actually have. My crazy girlfriend and I were supposed to go to the bar one night and she had been fighting with this guy that she was dating. We got there and she said that she wanted to invite him to the bar and then purposely ingnore him! I told her that it was really childish and rolled my eyes I swear she about bit my head off!

Yes I have...

Its rude and disrespectful and immature especially when doing it to an older, more wise person than yourself.
