Excellent point.
I don't believe in Martians, so when I get excited, I don't yell, "Oh my, Martian!"
You see, they know deep down that God is real. But they want to live their lives as THEY want to. To do what THEY want. Whether it is right or wrong. They don't like the thought of having to answer to God. So they use clever intellect to try to make God go away, but in reality, they know they can't. But they'd never admit it.
But when tragedy strikes, there are no athiests in the foxholes. If it came down to their very survival, they would be on their knees begging God to save them.
It's a very pathetic and lonely existance they have. I feel sorry for them.
Good issue, I'm glad you brought it up.

certain, superstitions pass into way of life. Christians use the traditional days of the week even understanding that they arrive from norse gods.Atheists do not fairly worry about no longer putting forward something for non secular causes - its theists who've those unusual guidelines about using gods names. Do you believehe ought to favor you to rename the days of the week?

I actually say ah zoots(Zeus). I find it comical and not one accuses me of believing in polytheism. Unfortunately you take popular expressions and take them as literal translations and you'd be living in a wacky world.
"Ah crap!" I guess I believe in crap maybe I'm a nihilist now? I guess if you have a shallow looking glass it appears everyone is catering to your belief but, in reality people will choose to interpret words and their meanings as how they want to not how you want to.
Should opening Pandora's box literally mean you believe in the Odyssey. Now every time I see a curious person I have to reframe from using that simple phrase that dramatically describes a deathly curious character and go "you look so curious it could risk everything" so blandly when we have a simple tale to make reference to.
If you are really that wanting to believe in hopes that they so desperately secretly choose to worship a fable they refer to than go ahead. Just know if I make a mockery of popular culture it's a mockery.
If I use a select phrase to simply describe a moment of desperation such as "oh, god the cat pissed on my favorite rug". Just know I'm not actually asking for god to fix my petty rug it is an expression. It is just as equal as asking for Ra's assistance.

How do you know that's what most athiests' say? Have you conducted a scientific survey? Or read one? I don't believe you actually know that.
Assuming you are right about that, LOTS of people say "omygawd" at everything. It's out in the world, you hear it almost every day. Mirroring, or copying others behavior, occurs subconciously, so hearing an athiest say it has nothing to do with beliefs, but shows the influence of others on themselves.

It's just a stupid expression. It doesn't mean a thing.Just like saying Jesus Christ when your pissed off at something. We know no one going to show up.It's just another stupid expression. And as for the first answer. Things that do not exist can not say anything. As far as the one below me. Don't feel sorry for me. I feel sorry for you letting a fictitious character run your life for you.

It's a popular figure of speach, like "holy ****". (holy crap) I doubt very much that anyone believes that there really is any holy **** out there.

Because it is just a commonly used expression for shock....it doesn't have anything to do with religion.
