If u want it to burn straight onto a dvd ready to run in your dvd player then look for it in dvd format. This is a folder consisting of files in an audio_ts and a video_ts folder.
failing that then u will need a program to convert it to dvd complient mpg and then author it there are many MANY programs to do this and it'll all depend upon which file type you have downloaded in the first place. They all generally take about and hour to an hour and a half to convert and all the info and instrucions you may need can be found at www.vcdhelp.com

You have to convert it from Avi to DVD format,usually takes about an 1 hr.Winavi is what you need,or Google for a Avi to DVD converter.Plenty free ones out there.

when you download a video its usally in a AVI format. if you get a program called Nero 7, it converts the video into a VOB file and it gets put/burned on to disc. then it would work on any DVD player

i find the best program to convert avi files to dvd is cucusoft iv,e tryed a few but this works best for me plus its a free download good luck converting :)
