Do you hear that sound? That's the sound of people's ankles breaking as they jump off the bandwagon. A week ago Dirk was the MVP, but after one game it's over. Nash "yanked" it out of his hand, just like that.
Hello? It's MVP of the season, not one game that means nothing in the long run--save for seedings purposes. Let's not forget that Dallas still has one more meeting with the Suns to go--anything could happen. The roles could be reversed. And then what would people say? Would Nash still be the MVP, then? If that ball hadn't bounced in Nash's direction after he rimmed that first shot, the buzzer would have sounded and Dirk would still be the MVP. Let's also not forget that in the second meeting between these two teams, it was Dirk hitting the big shots. Remember that one he hit over Marion with less than a second to go to win the game? Anyone? So Dirk had an off-night at the line, big whoop. It could have been any other night that he screwed up, and just because it happened to be against Phoenix, everybody has totally thrown him under the bus. Nice, guys.
I love Nash, but the media is so stuck up his behind that they only concentrate on Nash's accomplishments and totally miss or ignore other guys' career seasons and MVP years. I'm sorry, but Dirk is still the MVP in my book and proved it tonight when he scored 19 in the fourth quarter to avoid an embarassing loss to the Celtics after starting the game so poorly. This race would be much easier to call if the media would quit brown-nosing on the little guy: in fact, it would probably be unanimous. How Nash is still the MVP this season after he undeservedly won it last year boggles my mid. Phoenix is good, and Nash is a good player, but is he really that good?

I agree. I think everyone is complimenting Nash a little too much. Yes, the Suns are an excellent team, but it's not only because of Nash. There's Stoudemire, Marion, Barbosa, and other good players. I think the fans are giving too much credit to Steve Nash. Personally, I think it's because he saved the Suns in their match against Dallas. Even in the final seconds of the 4th quarter, he missed the first shot to tie the game. I can only ask, "what if Marion did not get the rebound?", would everyone still credit Nash as the MVP? I don't think so.

not EVERY MVP needs to be an offensive assasin. not EVERY MVP has been in a team which doesnt have solid all star players in its line up.
i know a lot of people are dissing Nash and thats fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion. but look at the facts, the hard statistical facts. nash has led his team to the top of the tables every year since being here. he has made the suns - and the mavs when he was there - the higher scoring teams in the L. he makes other people better. he has pushed players into becomin better players while playing within the system instigaged.
nash is showin that you dont need to be a scorer to be effective. he is showing that unselfish play leads to winning. for this reason, he is MVP. a guy averaging near 20 and 10 is amazing. especially with the 10 is assists.
u look at nash and u say that he has all star players all around him. yes he does. amare and marion are both great players. but lets look at Amare....
Nash joined the team in 04-05 season. a season that led Amare to all nba 2nd team. he was also the only player to be in the top 10 for points and FG%. next year hes injured and the nash leads the team back to the conference finals. this year while being healthy he is an All star for the first time....thank u steve nash
Marion in the 04-05 season was the only player to be in the top 25 for points, rebounds, steals, blocks and minutes. he was the second player ever to be in the top 5 in rebounding and steals. with amare out in 05-06 season marion had a career year. he had a career high averages in points, rebounds, blocks, double doubles, and FG%. he was the only player ranked in the top 20 for rebounds, steals, points, blocks, steals and minutes....thank u steve nash.
Nash also helped catipult the profile of Joe Johnson who came from boston as a throw in player in a trade. he then moved on to a big pay day with the Hawks.
Yes marion has talented players, but he has helped put them where they are. let us not forget Dirk. yes hes a fantastic player and deserves MVP this year. but he has talent around him too. Josh Howard fastly emerging as one of the best in his position, a clutch shooter in Jason Terry and a great coach in Avery Johnson. Nash was selected into the all star game along with Marion and Amare. Dirk was selected in the All star game along with Howard and Coach Johnson.
i think its time we stop dissing Nash just cause he isnt the great offensive player. in his own right he is a great player, he won the award voted by those who know the game. it wasnt a mistake, he deserved the award. if theres an justice, he should also be a top 3 pick for this year also.
all great players in the L are where they are because of their team mates. no player in the L is a winner without his team mates. so really, all players are nothing if we go by ur interpretation.

Do you want to know why? Well here it is: Nash is White, Short, and Canadian. Sportswriters love foreign players, take whites over blacks, and they love short people in the NBA. So they think that he has a disadvantage but he doesn't. Phoenix makes Nash. He is not that great. Here is the game plan. Get the ball to Nash, Stodemire is double covered, therefor he passes to a wide open great shooter and they hit the shot 9 out of every 10 times. Anybody could do that. Put Nash on a bad team like the Celtics or Bobcats and he is useless.

What do you recommend the Suns' genuine MVP is Stoudemire?!?! The Suns have been only as stable if not extra appropriate this season devoid of him. look at Boris Diaw, recipient of the main more advantageous participant Award...its using fact of Nash. Raja Bell, James Jones, Leandro Barbosa, their entire group feeds off of Steve Nash. whilst they take Steve Nash out, the Suns look poor, they have no offense. This 3 hundred and sixty 5 days i ought to have truthfully considered the MVP award pass to LeBron or Kobe, yet Nash continues to be super.

u r so buyist man.
just cuz dirk doesn't have ANY MVP's!!!!!!!! u r totally pissed off.
Steve Nash is the ultimate point guard. Do urself a favour man and check who has more double-doubles.
Dirk is a great player, i love the fact that he's 7 feet tall an can shoot the 3 like that and is an amazing offensive threat.
But the guy can't play defense. Steve Nash isn't that great either, but it doesn't show as much.

Sounds like you are right up there with the rest of them. Other wise you, and the rest of the people dissing on Nash, wouldn't care about all the "hoop-la" Nash is getting. I guess we'll just all find out who's MVP when the time comes. So quit wasting your 5 points to post questions about how it's unfair that Nash is getting all the "attention".
