Can anybody tell me what the engine number stamped on the front of my new 350 crate engine beside the water pump connections is.Is it a new actual engine number or is it a stamped number which corresponds to where it was built , month & day.
If it is the place of manufacture etc where does the actual engine number get stamped.

1st 2 digits should read CE for Crate Engine. The rest of the numbers may indicate where , when and the number produced.

Try googling this question and you can locate sites to help you pinpoint your VIN ID number to verify a crate motor or not.

good luck.......

If there are no other visible #`s call a local parts store or ckeck out the gm performance website. That should help you.
