Why is it that after receiving initiation, I, myself, or my relatives still suffer from mishaps and illnesses?

During initiation, Master takes away the karma, which we have accumulated life after life and helps us to get in touch with the Almighty Power within. After that, we need to cleanse our new karma; Master can only help us to a certain extent and cannot cleanse it completely. If our fixed karma were to be completely cleansed, we would pass away because we would no longer have any reason to stay in this world.

Therefore, we still need to pay our debts. We will be ill and we will have misfortunes due to our fixed karma. However, Master will try to dissolve some of our fixed karma in our dreams. But if our karma is too heavy and cannot be dissolved completely, we will have to experience at least half of it physically. This depends on one's situation and karma.

We should practice diligently according to Master's instructions and listen to Her completely so that we can give Master an excuse to help us. We should believe that everything Master does is for the best and have faith in our path of practice. We should not be afraid of the prompt arrivals of the effects due to the causes we made. We should not be afraid to take the responsibility of paying off our debts. Then, we can attain the Truth and eternal liberation quickly in this lifetime..

Initiation is just the begining of a spiritual jorney. It is the
'initial' part, as the very word says.

Suppose that you are given a job based on your degree.
Do you expect that they pay you just for that even if you
do not work? If initiation alone serves the pupose of
eliminating mishaps and illnesses, billions of people
are willing to take it.

You have to do a lot after your initiation. It is a difficult path.
It is a path of physical suffering. How can you expect the
best of both? Access to higher knowledge is always
associated with physical suffering - all wise persons
of the past knew it. It is only after many years of such
suffering, you will be able to cleance your body and mind
to some extent.

Ancient texts on Yoga say that it takes more than one
life time to achieve a good degree of cleaning the
body and mind.

Initiation to what please?

Assuming that it is some religious initiation you are referring to; we would be naive to believe that after this, God would take care of everything!

The purpose of religious initiation is only to show you the "way to God" and inform you about God's expectations from you. (Rules & regulations of life as governed by your particular religion.)
As human beings; however devout we may be, or whatever God we may pray to - we are succeptible to all the frailities - physical, emotional and moral that we are subjected to. No human being is above this!
So mishaps and illnesses are a part and parcel of our existence and need to be tackled through education, science, knowledge and experience. God or religion initiation has NO PLACE in the scheme of things for us mere mortals.
