From memory, service 11 from Liverpool Street will take you close to St. James' Park.

Go onto the bus section of the Transport for London website (type "tfl" into a search station) for more information

No problem at all. Just take the train to Liverpool Street then either a number 11 or 23 bus from the Bus Station. Either will take you to Trafalgar Square from where St James Park is a short walk away. The 11 continues via Whitehall and Victoria Street, and you can get off there to reach St James Park as well.

You definatley can not get from Southend to London Victoria or any of the other South London Stations without using Bus, Tube, Taxi or Feet.

If you do not want to use the Bus, there is always the following, but I doubt if you would want to do it.

Instead of Liverpool St Station, come into Fenchurch St Station by the Tower Of London, walk across Tower Bridge and turn up Tooley St to London Bridge Station. Catch Train to Charing Cross Station and then walk across Traflagar Square into the Mall and St James Park is on the left.

There are lots of buses. If you buy a small London guide in Liverpool Street when you arrive, there will be a map showing all the bus routes.
