This question is for the conservative republicans out there. Which candidate do you prefer, Rudolph Guliani and Fred Thompson. If Thomspson runs I will vote for him because his a conservative but Guliani is a moderate. I want to vote for someone with my Christian Conservative values that Guliani does share. He is prochoice and against the death penalty.

This is for everyone who would like to see Fred Thompson run for President. None of the current candidates are as truly conservative as he is. Right now he is gaging how much support he would have if he did run. Please show your support and sign the petition asking him to run:

As of right now, there are 7401 signatures. We need more!

Why did a mayor beat a lt. gov for office (New Orleans)? Why did a Georgia governor beat a sitting President (who was NOT elected, by the way, Carter-Ford)? Why did an Arkansas governor beat a former Vice-Pres, then a well-respected senator from Kansas(Clinton-Bush-Dole)? How did a Texas governor beat a Vice President, then a well-respected senator from Massachusetts(Bush-Gore-Kerry)?
Why don't senators and congressional representatives win (the only modern exception I can remember seeing was Bush-1 vs Dukakis)?
It's a knee-jerk reaction from people who haven't educated themselves on who they want making the decisions for them. The common, uninformed voter who will vote "just to be heard" will regularly be counted on to vote for the one who "makes the decision" (even an unpopular one), in the interest of managing the task they were chosen for (Captains don't lead by popular vote, but they're revered and respected for their skill as a leader and manager), whereas senators, representatives, and "lieutenants" can be counted on to "do what they're told" as they have constituents to answer to.

In Giuliani vs Thompson, I'm going to go with Thompson, but I believe Giuliani will carry the primary.
As for the Democrat ticket, look at who is running: senators, senators, senators. A representative is nothing but a "yes-man" for their constituents and unless somebody takes charge of a major program of an entire party (throw out Dean, take over and direct the DNC), they don't stand a chance.
Leadership is easily seen in six words: Lead, Plan, Train, Supervise, Direct and Mentor. Who is it that not only makes the popular decisions, but also the ugly ones and gets the job done?
The leader!

Neither, Fred decided to become an actor. Guliani did what, that any other mayor would have not done?

Fred Thompson for vp. i think of Thompson/McCain could be a extra conservative fee ticket. I additionally like the belief-approximately Condi Rice. Too undesirable it is not Thompson/Rice for the Republican fee ticket.

Is either one defending the two border patrol agents who were criminally thrown in jail for doing their jobs? D Hunter is and should not be overlooked as a candidate. Can't US have someone with a history of doing good things not just pick from media promptings?

Fred Thompson's name keeps coming up on these boards - I didn't know he was running.

I loved him in "Hunt For Red October" and "Law and Order". Are we ready for another actor-president?

Giulliani,
Even though Democrats run rampant throughout New York look at all the good he had done for it, he should be the next president.
