On what evidence do Americans base their assumption that they have the best society in the world?

After all they have a very low percentage with passports, and are isolated by the oceans from other countries. We all know that they use a lot of resources but they don't seem secure or happy and are always getting mixed up in wars to secure the esources that they need to sustain their wealth. I like it in the UK, but would like Frnce better, find most of Europe brilliant, Japan looks interesting, a friend lives in Austrlia and he's happy, whereas American small towns look boring and the politics scary and the cities seem to have big problems - also the car use looks gross, I wouldnt want to live somewhere where you couldn't walk about freely.

I don't feel that we have the best society in the world, if I could move I probably would. But.....love America or hate it, does any other country in the world have so many people from other countries willing to die just to move here? Does any other country have the same number of people immigrating to it? Whether you would want to live here or not, there are people in every single society that would rather live in America. It speaks for itself.
Now...Most Americans are not happy with our politics. Our current president is probably the most hated president by its own people we have ever had. Our politics will only get better when America learns to mind our own friggin business and take care of its own "citizens" first.
As for small towns, well I like where I live. I like the city too. Ive lived in both. Cities have the problems they have because of population, and again politics. And Lastly, you can walk wherever you like, no one is stopping you unless you are on a highway, which is just dangerous. So...have you even visited America? Or are you making assumptions on a place you really have no first hand knowledge of?
There are lots of things I could say Ive heard about the UK, especially France, but I wont because Ive never actually been there. Maybe someday.

The reason americans feel the US is the best is becaues we are the only country where we have a huge immegration population. a lot of philipinos, hispanics and asians reside here. its a country where if you want something bad enough and work hard for it the sky is the limit. and we are democracy so the people have the say so in what goes on. infact 1/5 of the us is hispanic. I feel Americans are spoiled because most of us have a roof over our head, have clean water and dont have dirt in our homes. I mean there are certain parts of the US unless you know someone you arent allowed there but that is everywhere. in israel people are so used to the guns and the warfare. woman are as equal as men here too. there are some countries where the woman have no rights and we are treated like animals instead of human beings. Look at Africa, middle east those countries treat there woman unfairly. In america you can walk freely but we have diffrent customs here. when we like you we invite you over, never invite people to stay the night or we go and hang out with you. Every country has there good and bad, youll never understand it until you live there though. and as for Bush we all know hes a bad leader but you cant stereo type the rest of us for it. I think he is sending the soldiers out for suicide missions but thats what i think.

They would have us all think that they are happy. I wouldnt want to leave Yorkshire for the states, no way. 'My country is the best' is just an extension of self-pride. 0ur American cousins are brilliant at it but they are not alone.
