I have had a saltwater aquarium for over a year now. Every type of fish I have put in there is still alive to this day except for Butterfly fish and angel fish. Both of those types of fish die within two weeks every time. I have a friend who has had the exact same problem with those two types. Any suggestions on what we might be doing wrong?

Well it seems like your tank has matured, however sometimes even a tank that has been running over a year still does not contain enough bacteria to support these types of fish.

What else is in the tank with them and how large is your tank? Angle fish are a little bit tricky and require higher PH levels than others.

What is your water testing out at? how about the nitrates and ammonia?

Did you buy your other fish from the same place? There could be a few things that are going on in your tank. When they die, do they show signs of stress before hand? If you email me I can try to help you further, or just repost.

You did not report what size tank you have or how you filter the water, nor what size fish you are introducing, nor what you alrady have. My guess is that you have a smallish tank (under 80 gal) which can stabilize and handle the load of several small fishes but that once you introduce a 3-4 " angel the bio load on the tank becomes to high and the fish poison themselves with their waste. Do you test specific gravity, do water dhnages and test/correct disolved oxygen and ammonia, nitrate and nitrite? Also, butterfly fishes, even Atlantic, are very fragile and require a different diet and very, very stable water conditions. They get salt water ich and other deseases just from stress of handling. Shy away from them until you really know what you are doing. Buy your angels very small and watch them grow. The coloration stages they go thru are dramatic and interesting.

the only right situation to do is be certain what length tank you will do. Get as super of a tank as you may, using fact Saltwater fish choose extra area than freshwater for the reason that Saltwater holds much less oxygen than freshwater and maximum saltwater fish get better. factors Tank/Stand/and so on lighting fixtures. Are you doing coral? problematical or mushy? look at T5 lighting fixtures and steel Halides. you will choose around 3-5 watts according to gallon. Heater- Submersible, marineland is a sturdy kind or hydor clear out- Get a canister clear out. the recent FX5 is loopy extraordinary by employing Fluval, get one which will pass each and all the water interior the tank a minimum of five situations according to hour. Protein Skimmer- Coral life makes some super ones. Substrate- Use the two overwhelmed coral or aragonite (aragonite is sand and overwhelmed coral seems extra like gravel. the two will buffer the pH to the place you pick it (8.2-8.3) After the equipment is taken care of, you place up the tank as you may a freshwater tank, yet you upload interior the sea salt. I choose Oceanic or Coral life. A hydrometer is mandatory to envision the point of salt interior the water(specific gravity) stay Rock is mandatory as quickly as the tank is setup and working. approximately 1lb according to gallon is stated yet you additionally can blend stay rock with base rock(it fairly is lifeless stay rock. that's going to ultimately grow to be stay rock inspite of the indisputable fact that) I did a three/4 LR to a million/4 BR ratio using fact it fairly is extra fee-effective and works only high quality. supply it some weeks to cycle, and start up with some fish. i could advise some Blue/eco-friendly Chromis to start using fact they're a non violent damsel fish while many of the different damsel fish get aggressive as they grow old. that would desire to be approximately it, it somewhat is common so do a splash analyze and get to it! better of luck

It could be a number of things. Of course water condition should be checked first. Both of these type of fish have sort of special diets. They also give you general explain of the fish habits, diets, and things like that. They also have a fish guarruntee, and free shipping for purchases of at least 79.00
