But....how can the earth rotate? Wouldn't we all slide off when it tipped?......

(The Earth rotates on its axis from West to East with its axis in the North/South direction).

Relative to it's axis, yes... but relative to the sun and other reference points in the galaxy, I'm afraid is a bit difficult to discuss here

I was tought in school that we are spinning. Not the earth.
