if you are just going to come and preach what has been taught to you and NOT from you own personal experience then please do not answer, or at least do so without trying to FORCE YOUR OPINION down my throat.

Faith in a supreme power, without any organized religion surrounding it, is probably closest to deism. You may want to research into that from what you say.

All religions lead to very similar spiritual messages: Be good to each other, be a moral person, and be honest with yourself. It seems like in questioning yourself and searching out religions, you're being honest with yourself and living half by the maxims of a spiritual life already.

Christianity in and of itself can be very questioning and mystical, and not as close-minded as it is often portrayed (and often portrays itself): Search out some Kahlil Gibran, if you want to get a view of what good Christian truth is (at its heart, compatible with the good truths of all other religions.)

Institutions headed by people who profess Christian faith have caused a lot of bad in the world (there were even some evil popes in history, such as Stephen), but other institutions headed by Christians have done a lot of good. The wisdom is to know the difference between the two.

If you have a spiritual advisor that you trust at whatever place of worship you are looking to attend (or already attend), talk to them. Men and women of faith are often amongst the most spiritually curious people out there, and don't tend to shove their beliefs down your throat, because they've come to true understanding in whatever religion they're in. I would say asking them for advice might be a decent place to start.

"Our own life is the instrument with which we experiment with the truth." - Thich Nhat Hanh, Mahayana Buddhist monk.

Looking for something that does not exist is enough to drive anyone crazy!

I believed in a god from birth all throughout high school, blindly accepting what my parents, family, and teachers told me. I was a card carrying Christian and attended Catholic schools.

I finally learned the hard lesson at around age 17 that there is no such god. I was raised to believe in a kind and loving god who protects his faithful. In a horrifying moment, I screamed out for that protection and it was not forthcoming.

I'd rather be an atheist than believe in a god that would knowingly and willingly treat humankind like some sort of gigantic sick ant farm science project.

Christianity is all a bunch of double talk- if you have success in your life, it's a blessing, a part of God's plan and you should give him credit; if you need help, however, you have free will and you're on your own.

Bollocks.

I hope this is valuable- best wishes on your journey.

I believe in god, very much so, but I don't think God lives in a church, I think he lives in side you. Despite what the bible says, the God I believe in wouldn't send someone to hell because he didn't say a few words. I don't think the bible is meant to be taken literally, it's more like a story full of timeless life lessons.
In my opinion, just be a good person, be nice to people, if you see someone pushing a car through an intersection, don't just drive by and say "aww that sucks" jump out and help.
Besides, most people that claim to be hardcore Christians tend to be the biggest hypocrites. They always have their little exceptions for one part of the bible applying to them, and another not.
But make up your own mind, figure whatever makes sense to you.
personally, I think, God, Allah, Vishnu and all those other guys are the same guy. That's my belief.

I hope I helped or at least gave you something to ponder, sorry it was so long, but it's a complicated subject.

Religeon is different for everyone. However i believe that whatever the individual believes is right.
If you are a Christian then whatever you apply about christianity to your like will happen to you. If you believe there is a hell and that you are gong to it then you will go to your own hell.
You should just do what feels right for you. I have recently become a christian and i do not believe some of the things that comes from the bible. But others make alot of sense to me.
A higher power is known as God.
God doesnt have to be someone you worship. To me God is an energy who lives above us.
I do not worship him because i dont believe that he needs people to tell him how mighty he is.
But i love to speak to him. He listens and replies.
I believe in God because it feels good for me to have someone constantly with me. Someone who will speak with me about things others cant help with.

Try different things. If the bible is not for you. look at other religions. But keep in mind that you already have beliefs. and those beliefs can be your own personal religeon.

I, too , have been on a spiritual journey for the past couple of years. I was raised Mormon and was forced to go to church. It made me very resentful because I wasn't given a choice. I have now made my peace with God and feel like I can worship and talk to Him anytime, anywhere. I consider myself a Christian, but not a specific denomination. I have found that people will always try to trip you up on your path to find answers. Listen to your heart and talk to God yourself about your search. You will be led in the right direction. Now, I can't imagine my life without having faith. I came out of a very dark place and feel like I have found some light in my life. I hope the same thing for you. Keep searching and don't be afraid top go directly to the source to ask for help. God Bless You, man and I hope you find your way.

I believe that everyone should branch out of their current religion and see/learn about other religions. Even if you don't want to change, understanding other religions is very wonderful in the PC world. You shouldn't feel pressured by Christianity. If you are feeling pressured, it may not be the religion for you. Try branching out of Christianity. When I was 14, I started to look for other religions. I found the best one for me because it fit my personal beliefs that I held high. Good luck on your quest!

God is Love. There is no fear in love. Whoever has Love has God. God is not the author of confusion. Christ means God in the flesh. Jesus(Yashua) means savior (the love that saves you). People don't understand christianity, including alot of people that call themselves christians. When you hear the truth and you understand it you are at peace with it,when you are at peace with it you're happy about it, when you're happy about it you like it(peace, joy & love). The absence of good is evil, something good takes the place of something evil, you can't have both at the same time. God(love) is a spirit(attitude, heart, philosophy). You worship God in spirit and truth(intellectually&philosophically). Philosophy is a way of life.
What goes around comes around (you reap what you sow) forgive others the way you'd like to be forgiven. Judge others the way you'd like to be judged,or don't judge and you will not be judged.
Read the first chp. of the book of John and replace the word 'God' with love, then read it again and replace the word 'Word' with love. Read the book of 1stJohn(before Revelation). Seek and you shall find.

i got fed up with the crap that religion teaches that they are " the chosen". i believe that God loves us all equally, so i decided to pick and choose what i liked from different religions and put something together that works for ME. i believe in a higher power who i call GOD. the first commandment says that God is the only god and none shall be before him (including christ. christ is not God). i like the meditation and level headedness of the eastern religions, instead of the fanatics of christianity and islam. i gave up trying to figure out religion because everyone can twist it to the way they want it. that's why so many people are dying in the name of God.
