Some moms breast feed soley until the baby is a year old. That to me is a little extreme, but you do not need to supplement with formula for a 20 day old baby. Your friends obviously do not have children and don't know what they are talking about. If you think the baby is getting enough to eat then there is absolutely no reason to give the baby formula.
I did start supplementing with formula after a few weeks with my children, but that is because I couldn't produce enough milk.

Okay, breast milk is enough. Think about it this way, animals and people have been surviving for thousands of years on just breast milk. At one time it would have been normal to have breastfed a baby for the whole first year without giving a baby any thing else. You shouldn't mix food types in a baby that young. It can confuse their tummy, giving them horrible gas and other digestive problems. If you are doing breast milk, just stick with that until the baby is at least 4 months, then talk to your doctor about adding cereals.

breast milk is best for babies. breastmilk would not fill the babies tummy only if you lack milk. Once a mother gives birth, she lactates and the product of which is the best food for your baby. moreover, my mom once said, that the closest that a mom and a baby connects is by breast feeding. take note of your position while you breastfeed your baby. isn't she closest to your heart? well... would you rather feed your baby with animal milk? don't you ever wonder why there are so many kids who act like animals? but if your milk is not enough, try asking your OB-Gyne or pediatrician which brand of milk should you feed your precious angel...

Breastfeed exclusively. Your baby does not need formula. Your breasts will produce the perfect amount of food for your baby. Your friend is wrong. Do not listen to her advice. She obviously doesn't know what she's talking about. You are doing a great job breastfeeding your baby. Just be sure to feed her whenever she wants. Baby's know just how much to eat and how often they need to eat. Congratulations on your baby!

keep on the breast milk fully..if you like you can give a bottle of milk formula at night so the baby sleep longer but then you have to boil bottles...and then there are problems with formula too...colic?? constipation...etc...
if the baby is happy on breast milk keep on breast milk..
mother's milk is the best..if the baby is hungry he/she will make more milk so no need to worry..enjoy the breast feeds...they dont last long...:)

Breast milk is the best food for babies. It fills their stomach plenty well, but because it is designed perfectly for their bodies... they digest it more quickly and efficiently than formula. (hence formula fed babies having more tummy aches, colic, constipation and stinky poos... it is not easily or fully digested and leaves lots of waste product behind.)
Exclusively breastfeeding for the first 6 months old life is the best option for all babies. Not only is breastmilk perfectly formulated for a baby's digestive tract... it also provides antibodies, immunities, cancer prevention (in both mom and baby!) for life!

I hate to say it but your friend is wrong
Breast feeding is the most healthy thing for a baby that young and you don't have to give the baby nothing else unless your PED advises other wise

Your friends are wrong. Breast milk is enough. The baby may eat more often but it is easier on his/her tummy. Unless you want to their is no need to give your baby formula. If you do want to supplement you breast milk with formula ask your pediatrician which formula he suggests.

Youre friends are not wrong and any one who says they are is delusional.
Your supply might not be enough.
I know women who have had to top their bubs up after a breast feed from 14 days on as they didnt have "filling" supply.
Of course youre doing your best.
Of course breast milk id the best for bubs.. but if bub is not "full" then they will need a top up.
I didnt breast feed any of my babies "gasp"

If you are producing enough breastmilk that is enough. I was not producing enough and my babies did not get full at a feeding and I had to supplement with formula.
