It does sound a bit like she may have a very mild form of Spina Bifida Occulta. Does she have a tuft of hair or a dimpled area at the base of her spine? If the answer is yes, then you should ask your doctor to refer her for tests. some of the symptoms of SBO are bowel and bladder problems and orthopaedic bone problems in the legs.

I have this very condition also. From what I understand is that the reason why kids develop spina bifida (which is what you have, the only difference is that YOURS is on the inside towards your gut and not toward the outside of your body) is because their mothers in the first trimester didn't have enough folic acid in their diets. If you took a prenatal vitamin that should cover this very important vitamin.

Constipation and UTIs can be totally normal in kids. They will eat what they want to eat. But then again she may have something here that you don't want to miss. The Dr. it seems don't care they just want to get you in and then out as quickly as possible. You may want to take her to a chiropractor...they seem to be more willing to LISTEN to your problems and not just make you feel like it is all in your head.

Good luck...email me if you would like to chat or need more help!

I really don't think she has it. When you were pregnant with her and then right after her birth, didn't they do a lot of extra testing/examinations to make sure that she didn't have it, especially since you as her mother do?

UTIs and constipation are very common in small children. UTIs are very common in females all together!! If all else fails, give her a children's laxative.. something gentle and made for children, it will help. Good luck.
