My favorite cartoon movie is a classic: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
That movie has stuck with me through the years. It taught me about evil witches, taking food or candy from strangers, don't judge based on appearances, and that little people are there for you when you're down.

I'm not quite sure if this qualifies, but I love "The Dark Crystal" by Jim Henson, original creator of the Muppets. It was made around 1980, before Henson died; it's definitely not sweetness and light like the Muppets, but a whole different path for his studios. The technology for creating the characters is the same as the Muppets, but considerably more advanced. Great score, too - I highly recommend it if you've never seen it.
