I mentally decide how long I wish to sleep or what time I want to awaken, or if it doesn't matter at all.
Normal response is I awaken 10 minutes before the predetermined time.
If interested in reasons or whatever. I drove a semi for 25 0r 30 years and my habit was to drive 4 hrs. and sleep 4 hrs also pick up or delivery times would interfere with that schedule so determination of how long that period would be changed that time.I started with alarm clocks but that was not dependable .sometimes I forgot to set it sometimes I believe I shut it off and didn't know it. So I changed my way of thinking and I just ask God to get me up at the time needed or desired .He does good work, and that gives me the desire to do the same............No I ain't kidding!!! Just believe and try it.

It just depends. I think to a certain extent my body tells me when to get up. For instance, last night I spent the night with a friend and set the alarm on my phone because I had to be ready to go at a certain time. My phone ended up dying, and even though we stayed up till about 4, I awoke right about the time I was supposed to have waken up.
Also, during school I have to be up by 6 to get ready to catch the bus at 7 and make sure my sisters are ready. 7 out of 10 times I will either wake up just a few minutes before my alarm goes off, or if it isn't set at all then I will wake up within 30 minutes of when I was supposed to. I think my body has become accustomed to what time I have to wake up, so it naturally does it on its own

For me it's just discipline. I always get to uni at least two hours before my classes. What if there are long delays on the trains? I need to get to my classes, and if that means I have to wake up at 4:15 in the morning, I'll do it.

Call of nature first, seldom later than 5 am, then about 1 hr sleep and up to check email. I started keeping early hours AFTER my retirement and look forward to each day. I sleep when I'm tired.

I never have to set an alarm clock. For some reason, I know what time I need to get up and I just do. To be late for work would drive me nuts since I like to be punctual so maybe its psychological. I dunno.

I get up early because I love to be up in time to see the sunrise.
Also It is my time of the day that I get to myself, to think clearly, to study, to plan the day ahead and have time to read.

With me it isn't the fact that I want to get up (often I have to force myself to actually get up, since I never want to). I get up because I know I have to. On Weekdays I have to go to school (I am in high school) and I have to be there on time (in fact I prefer to get there half and hour early). On weekends I work, so I have to get up on time. On any day, I also have to get up early because I have to let my dogs outside.
