Is that even a major?
But even if you don't major in that... I know you can own a zoo if you are rich enough, but professionals have to take care of it. If you ever own a zoo, can you please let me in for free and have kangroos and koalas in there? Panda too

I think that it would certainly help.
However, you wouldn't need any type of a degree to "own" a zoo, as long as you have some capital (cash, that is) to open a business and pay people to manage it. Probably something more helpful to that end would be an MBA or a business degree.
Now, to "run" a zoo... even then, probably not, as it would involve mostly administrative work like payroll and marketing and stuff.
Really, the only thing you'd need a zoology degree for is to be a zookeeper. Then you'd be working directly with the animals so yeah.

The first thing most people say when they hear that I'm majoring in zoology is 'oh, so you're going to be a zookeeper?'
Majoring in zoology does not mean that you can own a zoo, or even look after the animals (unless you get additional training, a license and probably a different degree depending on your local laws).
In zoology you learn about animals, but not how to look after them.

Having a degree in zoology will not allow you to open a zoo. It would help you to be able to design habitats and diets for them and to care for them. You would need loads of permits ,and lots of money to own a zoo. If all it took was a degree in zoology, EVERYONE would own a zoo, myself included.

Owning a zoo is something about finances,business ,marketing,money.
It is lot more than taking care of the animals.
If you have good amount of money you can own a zoo.
If not,you can work and hold a good position in zoo

I would imagine that just about anyone can own a zoo if they have enough money ! (Michael Jackson) . Really, you can hire all the zoologists, biologists, etc.........
