I found the time spent earning a double major degree to be a real asset. I completed a BA in History (Canadian) and 20th Century English Literature. I loved it! Tonnes of reading; tonnes of writing. After completed that degree I earned a second, one in education. For my field the double major was invaluable. I have a wide ranging academic background that prepared me well to teach many different subjects. To answer your questions, though, my double major was a wise course to take for my career. I think for any field or career (like law, education or jounalism) that requires a broad and diverse knowledge base a double major would be a great pursuit. Go for it and enjoy it!
