Also, will placing it on an uneven surface while it's on spoil the hard-disk too?

It depends, the chances of anything happening are slim, but if you mistakenly dropped it or dropped it and caught it in mid air the is a chance that one of the platters in your hard drive could collapse on the other ones and destroying your hard drive.

It doesn't really matter too much if the surface that you place the laptop on is uneven. As long as the vents are not blocked, you should be fine. Laptops are made to sit on laps, which aren't entirely that flat...

Running around with the laptop isn't the best idea. Some laptops contain motion sensors that are meant to stop the hard drive from spinning so that it does not get damaged if you were to drop it or move it quickly (the platters and heads could possibly get damaged). IMO, the biggest risk of running around with your laptop is that you could acidently trip, fall, and break or damage something else on the laptop, such as the screen or optical disk drive....

Mine was never spoiled by moving it around or placing it on just about any surface - including my lap. That's why they call it a 'laptop'.
Also, the OLD consideration of having to 'park' a hard disk (in a desk top) doesn't apply any more - as far as I know - even to desk tops.
Enjoy your laptop.

in case you are able to drop it from a short height even as the hard disk is spinning, so as that there is not any damage to the workstation, it ought to reason the HDD platters to misalign (if there is more advantageous than one platter), so as that sector 0 on each aspect is out of sync, causing the HDD to no longer reply, because it has to ascertain each of the platters at the same time from sector 0. it really is close to no longer accessible to realign platters, because it must be precise right down to the nanometre. Or make a DIY electro magnet. which will do the trick, and that i in my opinion imagine progression an electromagnet is thrilling :).

The way that laptops are made, it will not hurt to have it on an uneven surface. However moving it, as long as you are not shaking it up then moving it from your desk to the sofa while it is on will do nothing.

moving the labtop aroun while its on is ok that is why microsoft design it that way. I would not put it on top of the oven because you are over heating it. reamember that lap top is small in has a small fan on the bottom or on the side. The more heat you put in the more your making the labtop work. In the more you make it work the faster the battary will go dead
