What is the volume in cubic feet which is occupied by 1080 Canadian gallons of water?

Hi Dave,

One imperial gallon is 277.42 cubic inches so 1080 imperial gallon is 277.42 1080 = 299613.6 cubic inches. There are 12 inches in a foot and hence 123 = 1728 cubic inches in a cubic foot. Hence

1080 imperial gallons = 299613.6/1728 = 173.39 cubic feet.

It doesn't matter whether it is fresh water or petrol.The question is only about volume(length times breadth times height) and what units of volume are to be used.The volume you get from the calculation( in the brackets above) is in cubic feet.There are about 6.25 gallons in one cubic foot.

Volume = 6 x4 x 10 = 240 cubic feet
1 imperial gallon = 4.546 liters
1 cubic foot = 28.32 liters

then
240 cubic feet (28.32 liters/1 cubic foot)(1impG/4.546l) = 1495.12 imperial gallons

Pedestal is more accurate. A yard is 0.9144 meter so a cubic foot is 0.9144^3 * 1000 / 27 = 28.3168 liters rather than 28.32 that Eduardo used.

It's a gallon of milk purchased from the "Dark Side of the Force" convenience store. I know...I'm a jacka*s...I'll show myself out.
