I'm a 20 year old female and I'm really worried. I recently contracted a terrible bout of migraine while having a bad cold. It's the first time I've ever had migraine but it won't go away even after a few days. The thing is, I'm not sure if it's my cold which caused the migraine or the fact that I recently switched from contact lenses to wearing spectacles full-time. My worry is: Will this migraine last forever? Or will it be gone in a few days? I heard that it lasts forever in some people. I really hope I don't have to depend on pain-killers all my life. Is it possible that my migraine will leave me completely after awhile?

I have suffered with migraines for many years.

The headache should let up after a day or two, but if it doesn't, go see your doctor.
There are many reasons a migraine can come on, especially for ladies, it could be a change in your cycle (near your period date) as well as stress and anxiety.

But in your situation you could be having complications with your sinuses that is causing the prolonged pain in your head.

Also, check back with your optometrist to make certain you have the correct prescription of glasses, it is not unheard of for laboratories to make an error in lenses. Try a few days without the glasses to see if the headache improves.

If the migraine is over 3 days... Go to your doctor for relief!

i have suffered from migraines all my life-im 43. it wont last forever even though it seems as if it will. ive had migraines that have lasted 1-2 weeks before, but they always go away. this may be a one time eposide, or you may start getting them more regulary. that can change throughout your life. good thing is there are migraine meds on the market that can get rid of much of the pain so you are able to function. but you need to call your Dr. to get diagnosed. right now with your cold, you could have a sinus problem..etc....wait and see how things progress.

Yes, its true that migraine lasts forever. But, its frequency can be reduced. You need to visit a doc who can recommend you suitable drugs.Even my mom&I've got migraine&we take 'Flunarizine' drug.It helps a lot.
And its not b'coz of the cold, it usually occurs due to heat, inadequate sleep&food, stress,etc..
To reduce frequent attacks here are some of the tips i can give you...
1.Bath daily with cold water.
2.Have some coffee(not more than2cups daily)
3.Avoid going out in the noon.
4.Put your AC always on.
5.Close the windows and curtains at noon.
6.Try to stay in dark during day time.
7.Off your Tv,radio,etc..when you feel you'll get the attack.
8.Dont skip your food.
9.Keep your head always heavily oiled with coconut oil as it will keep you cool.
10.Last but not the least, have enough of sound sleep(very imp)
