I don't know how long it's been there, but there is a knot the size of a quarter on the back of my head I'd say on the bottom left. When I touch it, it sends shooting pains and those pains last awhile causing my neck to hurt sometimes. I don't recall hitting my head on anything. So what should I do? Please help.

How many did you have last night?

Jokes apart, I think you should see a doctor. Bumps/knocks on the head are best left to a qualified doctor. Even though things may look fine on the outside, you never know what has happened inside, unless you do a thorough examination.

i am a barber, first do you have your barber razor shave the back bottom and sides for a cleaner look? if so the razor should only be used until its at ear lenght, other wise you will get those bumps, also if the barber don't sanitize equipment after every use or have two sets of tools to let one clean in between cuts it can cause sores in back of head, check with dermatologist

Sounds kinda like going to the doctor and telling him that 'it hurts when I do this'. And, of course, the doctor's reply would be not to do that.

Seriously though, you probably just need to drink more water and find a good RMT (registered massage therapist) or chiropractor.

In the meantime, I suggest you check out the source listed below.

I'm a dentist.

Could be a lot of things. A spasming and inflamed muscle. A neuroma. Lots of things. It's tough to say without examing it.

You might want to see your physician about it, as these things can also be signs of a malignant tumor.
