my favorite teacher by far is my english teacher.
he is the funniest guy I have ever met, his stories are to die for, everyday in class we spend atleast 20minutes listening to his stories, and they are ALWAYS related to the subject. he is like a friend to every student, but at the same time he is also a teacher, and when he grades our papers, each gramatic error is a whole letter grade off, but thats why he has office hours, he encourages everyone to do a rough draft and come see him to get it checked for mechanics, then after that you just fix everything and turn it in, and its a garunteed A.

in high school, I have had the really easy going, and the really strict teachers, and they both failed to teach me the right way to write a paper. Ever since I came into my english class I have learned more in 3 months than I ever did in the 4 years of high school.

so my answer I like the teacher friendly, and only strict when necesary, because whats the use of being at school if the teacher isn;t teaching you anything

I like professors who are genuine, honest, teach in a matter that their students can learn in the best way possible, and is approachable (meaning that a student can talk to them privately). Soft and easy going.

I like a well-rounded instructor; one who gives insightful lectures and is tollerant but not a pushover. Those that manage to squeeze in a few laughs now and then always keep my attention too. I have a few professors who are hard core and even make threats, but they also set poor examples and can't even follow their own rules. Professors like this usually don't get very much respect and people dread going to their class. We are adults too. Give us a chance to prove it before laying down the law.

i like teachers who can grasp your attention and help their students understand the material well. being clear and using examples to identify key points during lectures are things i really appreciate from a teacher. strictness/being nice or whatever isnt much of a factor imo as long as the material is taught at a good pace.

Soft and easy going, they are easy going and that helps because you will learn everything by understanding not memorizing. Soft because they'll understand that you have a life too besides school
