eat a slice of bread with water of crackers if you have some. If you are starving and you have something to make a basic snack by all means eat.

If you have spaghetti noodles, taco bell sauce packets and a can of baked beans....You can make a decent 'make shift' shaghetti...or a spicy noodle meal.
Rice made with a beef or chicken broth, add some veggies (whatever kind you like)...and you have a nice snack. As well, you can always add the beans and sauce from any (or almost any) fast food place..(if you have any spare packets laying around) and make a version of redbeans and rice.
It would really help to know what you have as basic staples in your home. Maybe you could list some?

Any fruits available? Make a fruit salad. It will help if you dissolve some sugar in boiling water and add it on top. You wont get hungry until the next day. It's also a good and healthy, plus light dinner

Well seeing you have no food in your house, try the floor boards or maybe start on a pillow.... I'm sure they don't hold their weight in the nutritional stakes but hey, when the cupboard is bare.............
Seriously, if you have fruit, milk, ice and maybe some frozen yoghurt or icecream, make yourself a smoothie! YUM!

I don't know what simple food is to you, or what you have -give us an idea what you've got and I'll turn it into midnight gold (my specialty)
One hint: ramen with a can of mixed vegetables and vienna sausages.

it is kind of hard to answer because I don't know what you have, but if you have cheese and bread make a grilled cheese sandwich or eat crackers and cheese drink a lot of water to help keep you full.
