If you have only had him for a week I would give it a few more days. Sometimes it can take a couple of weeks for them to acclimate themselves to their new surroundings. After that I normally socialize a Leo (and most other animals) every other day for about 10-15 min at a time. Just start out by removing all the hides, then just pet his/her back and gently get them used to the touch. After a few days of petting gently pick them up but keep them in the enclosure with your hand just a few inches above the substrate in case they lunge and fall. Once they are comfortable with you handling them, may take a month or so, you can take them out and handle them more.

Geckos are nocturnal and chances are that when you view it, it is day time or the lights are on. Try subdued light or light with a red filter such as a dark room safe light. Moving the hiding spot will not bother the Gecko at all.

its best to handle him as much as possible that way he will know not to be afraid of you also try hand feeding him this will get him usto you being around... its prefectly fine to more the spot as long as it wont physically hurt him then its all good! i have had many lizards and its best to get then usto you asap that way ten wont get frightened all the time its also very stressful for them to be scared all the time and shortens their life spans... anyways good luck

peace out bunnie!

Give him time he will get used to you. They are also nocturnal so you will mostly see him at night.
