There are many categories of intelligence (seven I think). If you are referring to an average of these then perhaps a person of "average" intelligence is well adjusted. Conversely, somebody could be highly intelligent in writing code, but can't formulate a sentence when they're nervous which seems to be whenever there is human contact.
I would suggest that happiness is not directly correlated with either very smart, or very dense people. Rather it is associated with many factors, depending on the values and goals of the individual. It now appears that money does create happiness, which in many cases is related to success and intelligence. Therefore, I would not say that intelligence is a good overall indicator for happiness.
Another question...
What is happiness? Is it an elusive feeling that we can only find if we stay on the continuous journey in search of it. I believe so. What we did yesterday is not enough to keep us happy. Unless something is on the horizon (hopes, dreams, goals) the happiness is sure to fade into despair. This is why successful people tend to be ambitious. To maintain their fix, they must pursue their next goal.

I'd rather be intelligent and sad (for the right reasons) than happy just because I don't know any better. If you're smart, you can work to change the conditions that make the world the sad place that it sometimes is. I'm intelligent and I'm not sad, haha.

i agree with you!
however, there is natural intelligence and book smart intelligence.
the definition of intelligence should be ones ability to learn new things, not how much you know.
however, i do believe ignorance is bliss, just look at little kids...but to say that the happiest people are dumbest...might be alittle extreme...
if i had to choose i would be highly intelligent and happy because i would know that ignorance is bliss!

If becoming soo intelligent will ruin my leisure time and relationship with others, then I'll rather go for average intelligence. But if not, I'll go for high intelligence.

I am a dumb person, and I am definitely not a happy person. I make $8,500 a year at my job. I can't get a better job because I am too dumb. And it is not for lack of trying. I went to college for five years. It took me five trys to make it through Algebra 101. I finally give up because of all the math you have to take to get a B.S. degree. I could get the degree if it wasn't for all the math.
