But anyway, it would stay charged but everytime i close my doors, a red light, showing that the door is open stays on 24-7 and i dont know why, even tho i keep my doors closed all the way. what i want to know is, why does this light still come on? and how do i fix this? Bcuz if i dont get this fixed, im gonna have to take the damn battery out of the car every time in not driving it so it dont run low

listen to all of those answers, but whatever you do, if you have to disconnect the battery, leave it in the car. just take the - cable off. you dont have to take the battery out!!!

Sounds like you have a switch that is 'frozen' in the on position.Check each door jam for this little switch which looks like a 'push button' it is actuated by a spring that pushes the button back out when you open the door, and in turn it turns on the lights. It may be stuck in the out position or possibly broke.Check each door one at a time by pushing on the switch as the door is open and watch for the light to go out.If you push on the switch and the light stays on,replace that swith or just disconnect it for now.

There's usually a hidden switch that gets pushed in when the door closes. If that switch is broken, it can be in the "door open" position and give a false reading.

Spray some WD-40 onto the light switch in the door jamb. It's just sticking.

If you use your car everyday, or even every other day, that little light shouldn't drain your battery. Unless it's not a good battery.

you could have a short in your system, and/or your switch that the door latches to near the hinges could be jammed somewhere.
