I have a gateway laptop, about a year old. When I close the screen...if its still on, all these internet explorer windoes pop up (like 50) and I have to restart it. When I restart it, a blue screen comes up and it says it has to do a "dskchk" or something like that.
I know some of you might say spyware...but ive spent a ton of money on programs (im talking like hundreds) and none of them find anything...
Im taking it in to get serviced, but until I get there I was wondering if anyone can help me?

Thank you all for your answers, but ive done all your suggestions. Ive been on the phone countless times with tech support and such....and yes i am running virus checks too.
I do have a warranty but they don't cover spyware/virus issues.

take out you hard disk .copy all of the date to other computer .then have a virus scan .if you hard disk have virus .then it will die in you virus scan. if virus scan is end. take in you hard disk in you compute then try open you computer. if it not find now. you can have a new OS. like window or liunx .then every thing will fine. if you find some thing is lose .you can copy that thing from that computer you copy all of the date to it.
if this is no usually . try to fix you motherboard or you hard disk.

Are you running just spyware programs, or are you doing virus scans as well?, because that sounds just like a virus my PC had a few months ago. My browswer window would open exactly 49 times. As far as the blue screen and the dskchk, that happens sometimes after windows shuts down improperly or if something is wrong with your hard drive. Does it do it every time?, cause mine did when it had that virus. If you have a windows installation disk, I would just back up whatever you want to keep, and reinstall windows. It will prompt you to format the disk, do so just to be sure that everything gets erased, including the virus. That will save you from having to pay to get it serviced, cause they'll just probably tell you the same thing. I eventually had to reinstall windows, and everything is fine. That blue screen doesnt appear anymore either.

In most common cases like this it will be due to a spyware or a virus. If the scans dont show anything, it could be a damage caused by a virus that has been removed. In this case, your PC will not be able to detect the virus because its not there or has been removed. But the damage caused by the virus is still there. So, i think you should try reinstalling your operating system ( backup files first). If this doesnt work, then reformatting is the only way. Before you reformat your PC make sure you back up your important files because they will be totally ereased from your hard drive.

Yes and we will still say spyware or virus,
You really didn't need to spend that kind of money when there is plenty of freeware cleaners that will rid you of the problems.
Head over to http://forum.piriform.com and make a post in the "Spyware Hell" sub forum detailing your problems, they'll sort it out.
You could run a disk check as well click "start", click "run" type chkdsk click "ok"
::EDIT (same day)::
After reading your additional info it may look less like a virus but it wouldn't hurt to post your hijackthis log to the ccleaner forum mentioned above,
Do the 50 odd IE pages go anywhere in particular
(ie Random pages, your homepage, or some other site)
Do you have a firewall installed?
::EDIT (19/mar/07)::
The only registry cleaner you should use is the safe free one included in ccleaner (it's called issues in this program): http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds.aspx get the slim version.
Otherwise see what the local pc repair shop says.

Sounds like you might have a key that is sticking closed when you close the lid. If not, then it's probably a virus, spy ware, etc. It's almost impossible to remove those things once you get it. It like this, all the spy ware program are only about 95% effective, but it's the 5% that no one catches that is the problem.

The checkdsk blue screen is the result of improperly turning off your pc. Check out this website for your other problems. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_frame.asp I have never heard of anything else like this so I am recommending a trip to the geek squad.

extreme rigidity on the palm relax parts of the workstation, as well as extreme inner temperatures can effect in erratic cursor habit - pretty in some low-end fashions and sorts.. exterior mice are a strong answer, yet turning down the sensitivity of the contact pad ought to help. i latterly offered a touch hp infrared mouse at Wal~Mart for 12 money, which solved the placement for me. It keeps my palms off the rests. attempt monitoring the inner temp in case you are able to as well. strong success!
