I own some guppies, two are preg, they stay by the filter and are not eating. Are they sick or what? Should I put them in a breeding tank? I have 3 females and 2 males. Would it be okay if I move the preg ones to another tank? If I do then i have only 1 female to two males. What should I do because I don't want any of them to die. (I am more concerned over the pregnant ones not eating.)

I wouldn't guess they were ill however I wouldn't guess they were ready to deliver either. As there is 2 of them hanging out together. From everything I have seen when ready to deliver they like to be alone in a corner. I would guess there is to much testosterone in the tank for them. I always put no more then 1 male with 3-4 females as they like to try to breed and are very intent on it.
I would put them in another tank with large gravel that the babies will hide in. The babies that don't hide will be eaten sad to say but that will help weed out the sickly from the strong. When setting up the new tank I would use at least 50% of the tank water from the est. tank as it will lessen the stress on mommies. I would leave mommies in the fry tank for a couple days after birth to rest. Also when I feed I would crush the food into small bits for the babies to eat when it falls to the bottom.
If my tank could support it I would also get a few more females to spread out the tension.

I owned guppies at one time an there so cute. Anyways yes move them to a breeding tank and then wait for the frys. It sounds like those two are going to have those Lil baby guppies soon. BTW what do they look like when pregnant?

That's a sign they're probably ready to give birth. They'll get big and the bellys usually appear almost all black. You might even see them swimming with their heads slightly down which is a symptom of delivery.

Worse case scenario, heavily plant your tank and be prepared to go baby fishing. I wouldn't move the moms to a completely new tank, but rather buy a breeding tank with the v shaped divider that floats in the existing tank in which the babies sink to the bottom of it out of harm's way.

Good luck!

i have a 30 gal tank of guppies.. they pretty much control their own population. I have about 200 in there I guess now and then. from all ages. get some real plants. they like those areas to hide in.. i hardly believe there in the filter by their choice. they probably got sucked up in it. there guppies.. relax.. there meant to over populate your tank.

yes i would move them to another tank. most likely those females will give birth anytime soon. after birth you need to put the females back in the original tank just in case the babies become part of the food chain.

good luck!

of direction you feed her, except you prefer to starve her to loss of life you will see even in spite of the shown fact that, that she will have the skill to the two consume much less or no longer something in basic terms before she provides delivery in spite of the shown fact that wish that facilitates stable good fortune EB
