check engine light came on misfire code (tune up previously done). Was told that the water pump was bad. Installed a new pump, gaskets, seals timing belt, etc. Less than two days later I called him to inform him the car did not seem to drive correctly. Two weeks later the check engine comes on again (misfire code). I took it back and told him please recheck everything you fixed. less than a months later the bolt that holds the crank shaft & pulleys came loose fan belts are distroyed. I had that repaired and informed the so called specilalist of his error. He stated yes it was his error and the bolt was rusted he put on a new stud and cleaned everything and rechecked his work. After severaly more trips of complaining the car is not running properly, I notice that I had an oil leak and atifreeze from the timing belt cover area. Again he admits his error (seals & gaskets bad) & repairs. I want to know if all these errors cause other damage to the engine over a 7 mo period?

the crankshaft bolt is tightened to a crazy tight torque from the factory. techs rarely get the bolt back on as tight as specs. if the bolt comes loose, it is very likely to cause major engine damage. what happens is the crank pulley wobbles back and fourth, eating away at the crankshaft itself, the woodruff key and machined slot for the key, and the pulley. if the slot for the key is worn, the camshaft timing will probably be off, causing performance and economy problems. the only correct fix is to replace the crankshaft (engine). as far as leaks go, the crank bolt wouldnt cause leaks, therefore, this mechanic really hacked it up and made multiple errors on a relatively easy job. i dont like throwing other techs under the bus, but yes, you may have permanent engine damage. get a different shop to remove the crank pulley to inspect for damage, and go back to the hack to get properly reimbursed.

by the way, i dont see how a bad waterpump could cause a misfire code unless the bearing was so bad that the cam-crank timing was off. if that was the case, you would have heard nasty grinding noises from the engine.

Well my friend i had my share with a few mechanics as well...they all screwed up my car more i had the same problem with my crankshaft pully ..the bolt ran slack & i changed the engine cause i had other problems with the engine....cause of previous bad mechanic.....about your question....if there is coolant coming from the timing belt area it's a BAD sign & it looks like that Fool @ honda who changed the water pump did NOT do a good job... if you continue to use the car like that the leak will get worse & it will over heat the engine & the head gaskit will go.....yes it happen to me as well...You need to head back right there with a attitude & demand your car to be checked & fix by the manager himself apparently it looks like he hired his 10yr old kids to do the job...

Yes it will be a chain reaction if you check everything on a car you will find all problems and then you can find them and fix them If I were you I would go else where to get it fixed from now on.
