Just bought a HP laptop with a Japanese XP OS, Now I wish to Multiboot it with a English OS Win XP. I have formatted Drive D for this. But when the installation starts after a while a message appeared saying that NO HARD DRIVE FOUND ON YOUR COMPUTER,
MAKE SURE IT IS TURNED ON AND CONNECTED TO YOUR COMPUTER OR ANY HARD DRIVE RELATED CONFIGURATION IS OKAY, YHIS MAY INVOLVE
RUNNING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. I did so as asked and run the diagnostic test and the recovery disk and restored the computer to factory settings,
then again I formatted Drive D and tried to install the OS , but the same message appeared, so what shall i do to multiboot
the computer. Please help.

How are you starting the installation? I would suggest you to start the Japanese OS and then insert the English Windows XP CD and start the installation and select D drive as the partition for this installation. This should do the guess... Let me know if it doesnt work....

You have to go to Start menu click on control panel, go to system, advanced, then on startup and recovery click on settings, pop up comes. click on edit then a notepad will appear, copy the line(start)
**multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimer**(end) and paste a new one under that modify it as such
(start)
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows(version)" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimer

You should be able to do a multi boot.
