I looked up my estranged husband on people search.com. It listed all the property he/we have had plus one unfamiliar one in Florida. Below his name, it gave an alias of another man's name I have never heard before. Any Private Investigators or lawyers tell me what this could mean please -- a mistake maybe?

It could mean he owns property in other name or has stolen someone's identity...

Asset discovery is something best left to the professionals. I assume, since it is your "estranged" husband, you are in or preparing for a divorce. It is a common practice to have a disinterested party on a piece of real property, as percentage of ownership is not defined in any public records. If discovered, he may claim he only owns 1%. Find out what county the property is registered in, and find out who received the tax bill. If your estranged husband pays the tax bill, his cancelled checks may be supeaoned from his bank. The other name may not be an "alias". A decent P.I. can do a background check on the information, and either come up with additional information on the other person, or verify, It is an alias. I hope that this helps.

Free public searches, in my opinion, are not the best way to find things of substance. They will usually list info and try to get you to buy the info for a one time fee without giving any guarantees the info is accurate or even relevant to your search. Usually the fee isn't expensive so a one time search may be what you want to see if hiring a PI would be cost effective. Nothing is better than to have someone whose feet on are the ground conducting a manual search of physical documents. In the case of a divorce I would recommend hiring a PI if you are in doubt of the assets being declared. As far as an Internet search Netdetectives isn't bad and they are reasonable. They also have a refund policy.

I have zero affiliation with them except as a paying customer.

It's possible there is another man with the same name, or possibly he went in on a joint venture with a friend.
Net searches are completely unreliable. Have a service run his name thru Lexis. If he's trying to hide assets, you won't find them.

The alias of another man means something related to your wife. You have to search for his identity to know the connection with your wife.
