does anybody know any historical examples showing human obsession of power or being the best and rivalry? i can only think of the american/russian first to the moon thing

All of history is full of rivalries. One was the European rivalries to create the largest empires, or build the greatest industrial achievments. Another was the Naval arms race between Britain and Germany before WWI, and the arms race of the Cold War.

There are so many people that were obsessed with power in the ancient Roman times. For example, Afew of the power-crazy emporers of Rome include: Nero, Caligula, Caesar (not power-crazy, but still strived to dominate), Romulus and Remus, and there are so many others. Roman emporers are only naming a few.

History is littered with people like that. What do you think most wars were about? Even in ancient times one tribe or country would invade another because they though they were better than their victims and wanted power over them.

How about the time when black people were slaves? Maybe that could be an example. white people at that time are obsessed in overpowering(is it the right term?) the black ones.
