"Miss You" was a previously unreleased song which featured Missy Elliott, Lil' Kim, Tweet, Playa and DMX, among others paying their tribute to Aaliyah in the music video.

Miss You is actually a song for aaliyahs last album performed BY AALIYAH. since she had passed before she got a chance to make a video, they turned the video into a tribute to her. DMX speaks in the beginning of that video. it was not written as a tribute (she recorded it before she died obviously ^_^)

THe song u speak of might be "Take away" Performed by missy, tweet, and ginuwine. sounds like what u described very melancholy and melodic. both songs are really.
it was originially just a song on MIssys So Addicted album but she turned the video into an Aaliyah tribute video after Aaliyah passed away. but dmx is not in that video so im not sure if its what ur lookin for.

if u kno it isnt these two and there is another song, please add more details i can try to help
