I put in a call to one of the reservations staff at the Mandalay Bay to get the scoop for you -- after all, no-one likes arriving at a hotel to find unwanted surprises like construction noise.

The news, you'll be pleased to hear, is good: the pool renovations are almost complete. Three of them (the Wave Pool, the Lazy River, and the Beach) opened up last week, and three more (the South Lagoon, the North Pool, and the West Pool) are scheduled to open on April 16. That only leaves the adult pool (the Moorea) which will be back up and running by the beginning of June. So you should be all set to stay there by the first week of July!

There MAY still be certain rooms being renovated in the Mandalay Towers, but my contact assured me that guests don't even notice -- the hotel closes off three floors below and three above while that's going on, so there's never any noise.

Enjoy your trip!

I passed through Mandalay Bay at the end of January. There is a huge amount of work being carried out on the pool area and it didn't look like any work was being done that day just concrete and bricks everywhere.

MGM and Caesars have great pools if Mandalay Bay isn't ready, both are very good hotels too
